Rags to Riches
Tilly’s a pretty funny cat to watch. The other night, she punched my watch as I rested my arm on the ground. (She didn’t bat or swing at it—the front of the paw just went flying toward my watch, and BAM!)
So anyway, I walk in tonight to shave (a ritual that takes place every three or four days) and saw Tilly laying down beside the bay window in our room. I went over to pet her and saw that she was covering something with her paws as if guarding it. (She was probably playing with it until I walked in.) Immediately suspicious, I lifted her paws to discover a single dollar bill. So we’re at about a week and a half, and already she’s gone from begging for food to hoarding money. At this rate, she’ll have her own bank account by Halloween. I wonder how they compound interest on catnip.

Man! It’s probably because she’s used to life on the streets. When a stray cat finds a dollar, she’s gonna secret it away until she can buy some tuna, you know? Eventually she’ll learn that you and Janelle are reliable food providers, and the petty theft will stop.
How is Tilly getting along with the other cats?

She currently communicates with the other cats primarily through hissing. Mind you, the other cats don’t actually have a problem with her–in fact, they seem quite eager to get to know her. I think once she realizes that Zoey (who is easily twice her size) is not trying to eat her, she’ll be alright.
Speaking of Zoey, whenever Tilly starts hissing, Zoey completely freezes and gets really close to the ground and starts bellowing out this pathetic little sound. It sounds like a normal meow in slow motion. The poor guy has no idea how to defend himself. Tilly, on the other hand, is a total badass.

I’m just hoping she doesn’t have our bank accounts by Halloween.
